History & Background

Our History

Steel City Vets is a grass-roots non-profit organization started and ran by Veterans in support of Veterans.

Steel City Vets was form in late 2010 and started by helping to host small social activities throughout the region to help connect the growing population of Post 9/11 Veterans together. To date, we have connected hundreds of Veterans together through activities such as our yearly joint sponoship of the Pat Tillman Shadow Run - Pittsburgh and joint events with our other connections throughout the community including Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, the Veterans Breakfast Club, the Mission Continues, Team RWB, Veterans Leadership Program and others. The goal of these events are to get Veterans active, engaged and excited about the community in which they call home.

Our Mission

To provide support and guidance to Post 9/11 era veterans within the Greater Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania Area, throughout their transition and maintain continual support thereafter.

How To Join

Membership in Steel City Vets is open to any and all Post-9/11 Veterans regardless of branch of service and pay grade. We are here to foster the feeling of camaraderie among veterans through social activities. Supporters are also welcome to join. Membership is FREE and is required to take part in some events.
